Basic Elements I Expect in a Modern Bed and Breakfast Room

With the internet really coming into its own, accommodation in the UK is really coming into its own with owners realising they have to up their standards to get ‘bums in beds’ so to speak.

Below is the basic accommodation standards i expect from a room.

1/ Comfortable Beds. Everyone has their own version of what is comfortable but a fairly firm quality mattress is the norm. If you are uncomfortable let the management know so they can do something about it. Cotton sheets with a decent thread count makes me sleep a lot better.

2/ Shower / Bath. These days having just a shower is the norm and I really do not mind not having a bath as my own bath at home is the only one I want to bathe in. In some budget places the bathroom is shared which is fine as long as it is clean regularly!

3/ TV. Even if I have it on in the background as I get ready it is always nice to have a TV with a decent choice of freeview channels.

4/ Wireless Internet. A must if i am on business. Wifi deals are so cheap there really is no excuse of a bed and breakfast in 2011 to not have a free connection for my iphone. I really detest owners who charge up to £10 a day for this.

5/ Free Tea And Coffee. Very cheap for the bed and breakfast owner to provide. Some cookies and herb teas are always welcome.

6/ Clean! I do not mind if the facilities of the accommodation are old as long as they are clean. There really is no excuse for a grubby bathroom or un hoovered carpet. If a room is given to you in this state complain straight away and do not eat there!
